The Project
New Block – This project involves the design and construction of a new single-storey building at Dundas Public School, featuring:
- 6 new classrooms,
- 2 multipurpose spaces,
- 2 learning commons,
- A covered walkway at 1:20 gradient connecting the new building to the existing school and
- Removal of existing demountable classroom buildings to provide additional soft landscape.
These upgrades will accommodate 350 students.
The Challenges
A continuous accessible path of travel (CAPT) from the allotment boundary could not be achieved via either Kissing Point Road or Calder Road due to existing major level changes using the Deemed-to-Satisfy provisions. Accordingly, a Performance Solution was developed to provide an equitable and accessible route to the school, ensuring safe, dignified and functional access for staff, students and visitors.
