The Project
The building consists of new construction of a nine storey self-storage building, with associated landscaping, known as Storage King Mascot. The building is proposed to be a concrete frame structure with lightweight cladding system and glazing to the façade.
The Challenge
Given the size of the storage facility being 9 storeys, there were several fire engineering matters to be considered:
- Rationalisation of FRLs;
- Cavity barrier construction at the slab edge
- Extended travel distances;
- Fire engineered discharge from fire-isolated stairs
- Use of alternate sprinkler heads (flat spray) to reduce clearance
- Omission of zone pressurisation
- Booster location
